A useful website on Multiple Intelligences

“Intelligence is the capacity to do something useful in the society in which we live. Intelligence is the ability to respond successfully to new situations and the capacity to learn from one’s past experiences.”
—Dr. Howard Gardner, author, Frames of Mind and Multiple Intelligences: The Theory in Practice

Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers day!

A poem!

I know you would love to hear stories
of when you were a little one,
but hey there is some one else here
who was once a little girl
you know who?

Today was show and share at my son's school and todays show and share was to bring in your mother, or a photo of your mother. I took myself and my little one to my sons school. He gave me a card and also he spoke why he loves his mother. It was so touching!

Do share with us anything that you did for your mother or your children did for you! It doesnt have to be this one time, it could be from the past too.

Hi Ho Cherry O Game

This game is a hit in my house! Its for 2-4 players! The objective of the game is to put all the fruits from the tree into the basket. This game board has four trees with different fruits, cherries, oranges, apples and blue berries. There are ten holes in each of these trees and we have 10 fruits in them. The spinner has 7 choices, as you spin you may get numbers 1,2,3,4 or a dog, bird and basket. ON spinning, if you get numbers, you have to put that many in to the basket. But if its a dog or bird that you get, you will have to put 2 fruits back into the tree, and a spilled basket means that all the fruits from your basket has to go back to the tree.

My son is 4 years old and knows to count 1 to 20. He loves to count them and arrange them on the tree. If its just the two of us playing we both end up owning two trees each! That was his idea. He certainly knows how many are left in his tree when there are the rest in the basket. After continuously playing this he has become a pro in counting. Of course, he has to do things his way. Keep the fruits tilted, he spins for me and I spin for him, and of course he has to win! He also enjoys making the bird puzzle included in this game set. That is another variation to the game.

The players have to pick out a piece of the puzzle and fix it each time they get the bird on the spinner! And before the puzzle is done, alteast one player has to collect all the fruits from the trees. However my son doesnt go this far. He simply makes the puzzle and loves doing it.
Lots of benefits playing this game - counting skills, family fun, turn taking, how to play fairly and also improves memory.
